The next ROCK WALL REBUILDING EVENT is next Saturday April 12, 9am-1pm, at Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park. WE NEED YOU as we work to finish the last broken sections on the wall that runs near the park's entrance drive.
Bring your water and snack and work gloves and other tools that might help with wall repair--shovels, hammers, hand held cutters, rakes, chain saw. We've used all of these and more in the last 3 sessions.
Our "cook" that provided us with some delicious stews is busy next week, but the Farmer's Market will be at the park at the same time and there's usually some delicious tamales for sale.
Rock Wall Rebuilding
Project
We will have copies of "Jordan Gibson: He had no white family" by John Aaron Wade at the rock wall event. This recently published book is signed by the author. Jordan Gibson was a contemporary of Isaac and Anthony Bledsoe and lived not far away from Bledsoe's Fort. BLHA is waiting on the dendro chronology to learn if the unnamed cabin on the Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park was the Gibson's cabin. Cost of the book is $20. Cash or check accepted.
Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park is hosting History and Wildflower hikes on these Saturdays:
May 10, 10-11am
June 7, 9-10am
July 12, 9-10am
August 2, 9-10am

Before and after photos of the rock wall at Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park. A damaged section of the old rock wall at Bledsoe's Fort was recently repaired by Bledsoe Lick Historical Association volunteers under the instruction of David Wright. Work will continue in January on this rock wall that runs along the park's entrance drive. Come learn how to repair a rock wall and volunteer at Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park.
Park Updates
Work continued at Bledsoe's Fort Park with painting inside the Rogan Cottage. Neil Burgess, BLHA member, painting the door in the stone cottage. He was joined by BLHA members Robin DeVilling and Jane Wright and DAR member Katie Nowell.
We are looking for stories and photos about the Belote and Bledsoe Cemeteries, AKA "The Pioneer Cemetery," located at Bledsoe’s Fort Historical Park, during the 1990’s when the property “became” a park and before. If you have something to share, please contact Deb Spero at deb.spero@bledsoesfort.org.
Tell us a story...
Look for the new “Official Junior Long Hunter Activity Book of Bledsoe’s Fort Historical Park”. The booklet, especially for young children, guides families through the fort park, explaining the park’s history. There’s games to play and things to see. When your child, grandchild or great grand completes the booklet, fill out the back page certificate with their “first name”, take a photo and send it to Lucinda at: lucindaturbeville@comcast.net. The booklets are located in the “mailbox” near the park’s pavilion.
