About Bledsoe's Lick Historical Association
The Bledsoe’s Lick Historical Association was organized in March of 1970. Our mission has always been to preserve, protect and educate. For the past 51 years the volunteer led BLHA has been instrumental in the care and upkeep of Wynnewood State Historic Site, Hawthorn Hill State Historic Site, Castalian Springs Mound Site and Bledsoe’s Fort Historical Park.
Today, BLHA is charged with the day to day maintenance and care of Bledsoe’s Fort Historical Park, the site of the original fort of Isaac Bledsoe and home to three early Sumner County cabins: the Rogan Cottage, the Nathaniel Parker Cabin, and the Hunley Cabin, as well as the Pioneer Cemetery, where a monument to Isaac and Anthony Bledsoe is located.
Our mission has always been to
Preserve, Protect, and Educate.
Maintenance of the cabins, Pioneer Cemetery, and the grounds of the park is ongoing. In the past year BLHA paid for chimney stabilization and repair of the front porch of the Parker cabin, a drain around the Rogan cottage, and repairs at the Pioneer Cemetery. In addition, demolition of the non-historic structures and cleanup of years’ worth of garbage on the east side of the park will make way for a new, additional trail at the Fort Park.
Bledsoe’s Lick Historical Association invites you to join us as a member. Our association is the current day “Friends of Bledsoe’s Fort Historical Park”. Membership is $25 per family or $20 for single individuals. As a member you are helping to preserve this important piece of Sumner County, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee history and will meet others interested in doing the same. You will be on our email list for exclusive BLHA events.
Your membership fee and/or donation stays with Bledsoe’s Lick Historical Association and will help pay for upcoming improvements and maintenance to the fort park:
*Replace two sill logs and three other logs throughout the Hunley cabin
*Add eaves to the roof to protect the logs of the Hunley cabin
*Spray for insects and Seal the logs of the Hunley cabin
