Volunteer at The Fort!

Bledsoe’s Fort Park is always looking for volunteers!
We are always looking for volunteers that love nature, history, preservation, or just being in the great outdoors.  Bledsoe’s Fort offers numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including invasive species removal, living history programs, historic home tours, and special events such as the County Sumner Irish Festival.

If you would like more information on how to volunteer, please reach out to us at volunteer@bledsoesfort.org

Please check the Fort Park trails, cemetery, cabins, pavilion, and restrooms for any damage 2x’s a month (if able).

Trails:
If any new large fallen trees block the trail, ask for help to remove it.
Check the cave for possible break-in or trash thrown into it.
If able, with a team, consider doing some maintenance on the half-face shelter.

Restroom:
In the spring and summer look for new wasps nests in the ceiling and spray.
As needed: sweep, remove trash, and wipe down. Jerry supplies TP.
If mowers are blowing grass into the Rest Room please let Lucinda know to correct this.

Cabins:
Check for leaks, possible break-in, check lock, look for any rotting wood that needs to be addressed on stairs/porches and roof and logs and report or ask for help and fix.

Rogan Cottage:

At times the attic windows break, please check on this. If you notice the mowers blowing grass toward the cottage please let Lucinda know.

Swaney House:

walk around, check for possible break-in.

Weed-eat as needed and thoroughly spray round-up in the spring and summer, then eventually weed eating won’t be necessary. I did this around all the structures and poles and wires. Lucinda has the park-owned weedeater if you want to use it. Round-up costs will be refunded to you.

Swaney House:

Ehrin mows this and might need help April-September.
